Department of Justice to open U.S. Attorney’s office in Juneau
JUNEAU — The U.S. Department of Justice has created a new federal prosecutor position in Juneau and plans to open a U.S. Attorney’s office in the capital next month.

Man arrested for assault with glass bottle
A 46-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after striking a 28-year-old man in the head multiple times with a glass bottle earlier that evening at a Mendenhall Valley home.

Slides threaten two-block radius of downtown
JUNEAU — First responders are urging some downtown residents to evacuate their homes following a mudslide early this morning. Structures in a two-block radius between Gastineau Avenue and South Franklin Street could still be at risk, according to emergency officials on scene.
