Thanks for support of the daffodil sales

On March 11, bright yellow daffodils were delivered to many individuals and businesses throughout the communities of Juneau, Douglas, Skagway, Gustavus, Tenakee and Kake. I as chairperson for Daffodils and the many volunteers would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals and businesses that purchased daffodils and supported the program. This year we brought in $28,403. I have heard from many that after all of the snow we had the Daffodils were such a delight to see and it lifted up the spirits of many.

The Juneau Lyric Opera recently held our first fundraiser in more than 31 years. We couldn’t have done it without generous donations from individuals and businesses throughout the community.

Thanks for the Yupik science, survival exhibit

I had the opportunity to preview the upcoming exhibit “The Way We Genuinely Live: Yupik Science and Survival Exhibit,” at the Alaska State Museum. I consider it one of the finest exhibits that I have seen at the museum. Objects have been contributed by museums in the United States and around the world. The signs and explanations are concise, clear and informative. There are some interactive programs as well.

Mobile mammogram van to visit Haines from May 7 to 19

HAINES – The mobile mammogram van will visit Haines starting on May 7, with appointments running through the afternoon of May 19 (no weekend appointments). This year the van has been updated to provide digital mammograms.
