Thank you, Juneau Assembly.
Last week, the Juneau Assembly had approved action requesting that Alaska’s Department of Transportation remove the Men’s Crisis Center from the Adopt-A-Highway program. The Juneau Vampire thought it was a waste of time and effort for a number of reasons.
Thankfully, at last night’s meeting the Assembly rescinded this action because, according to Assembly member Randy [...]

Juneau (Internet) Access
As a fan of the internet, I’ve become more and more disgusted with Juneau’s limited options.
Because I have a cell phone, I don’t really need or want a landline. I’m not a big fan of cable television either. I just want decent, internet access from my home. Is that too much to ask?
In Juneau, yes. [...]

Men’s Crisis Center, Adopt-A-Highway, and Juneau
Back on October 21st, the Juneau Empire ran a story about an Adopt-A-Highway sign on North Douglas that several organizations, including the National Organization for Women Juneau Chapter and the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence-Juneau, had petitioned to have removed. The sign, they claim, promotes a fictitious club that “offends, marginalizes, and demeans [...]

Only in Juneau
So today I show up at work and there’s a certain buzz. I wasn’t quite sure what was up until I was approached by some co-workers who asked if I had my camera. When I said no, they said I should go get it. Why? Because there’s a bear in a tree behind Bullwinkle’s!
Since I [...]

Terrorist? Aw, that’s just water under the Bridge to Nowhere…
Sarah Palin says she’d be honored to help Obama if he asked. Of course, she’s still concerned about that whole “pallin’ around with terrorists” thing, but heck, the campaign’s over. Why dwell on the past?
You can’t rule Palin out of an Obama administration. There are possibilities for her. For instance, what better choice than Palin [...]

Wasilla Hillbillies!
Inspired by this story in Newsweek where a McCain aide characterized the Palins’ shopping spree as, “”Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast,” I thought I’d rewrite the Beverly Hillbillies Theme in tribute:
Come and listen to a story about a chick named Palin,
An average hockey mom, couldn’t keep her family from conceivin’,
Then one day she [...]

Hawaii = “Lower 48″
Yep. Check it out, from an interview with People Magazine:
Have you traveled with the kids anywhere in the lower 48?
Sarah Palin: Yes. Many, many, many times. Yes. Yes. We go to Hawaii often.
Granted, she did follow that up with California and Washington. And granted, off the top of her head, maybe it didn’t occur to [...]
